Best Data Rooms by Use Case
The room that suits a seed round is rarely the one you want for a forty-bidder auction. Choose the deal you are running and we show the three to five providers we would shortlist for it, with the reasons.

How each shortlist is put together
Every deal type starts from the same five-check scores used in our overall ranking, then gets filtered by what that process cannot do without. A licensing deal in life sciences, for example, drops any room that lacks document rights control, while a board reporting room is judged mostly on a steady annual bill and how easy it is for directors to log in.
That is why one provider can sit near the top of one list and be missing from another. Each page names the must-have features for its scenario, gives an indicative budget, and explains in a sentence or two why each room made the cut. If your deal mixes two scenarios, such as a property portfolio sold by a private equity fund, read both pages and keep the names that appear on each.
Not sure which scenario fits? Our four-question quiz asks what the room is for, how many outside parties join, your budget and your top priority, then returns a short list, and the pricing guide helps you sanity-check what each option will cost.
